How many pens do you have? Do you know what they are all used for, and/or do you use all your pens for what they are supposed to be used for?
I have a LOT of pens. It is part of my overall FOMO attitude and my collecting sickness. I have fountain pens, ballpoint pens, gel pens, alcohol brush/drawing pens, Sharpies, custom pens, … you get the idea. As a side note, I also have a few hundred color pencils.
I know what they are all supposed to be used for — writing, drawing, doodling, art, or Zentangle.
When we moved, I had to pack up all my pens. After sitting in storage for three months, not all of them worked very well. As I find time, I am trying out most of my pens to see if they still work. If not, I throw them out.
I had a set of Papermate pens that were a few dozen different colors. The problems were that they were all ballpoint pens, not ideal for drawing/coloring, and some of the colors (yellow, orange, … light colors) didn’t show up as legible on paper. So, I ended up throwing them all out — most of them didn’t work anymore, and I had them for some time, sitting in a cup on my desk. I can’t remember when I used them for anything. But they were pretty.
I am trying to use what I have better so I don’t spend more money on what I don’t need. I started over on my office when we moved and strived to get organized as I put everything together. I think I did pretty well, as I know where most everything is that I might need for writing and art projects.
So, there might be hope for me yet.
