My Mobile Phone

It seems like if I didn’t have my mobile phone, I would not be able to do so many things that, in the past, I could manage to do without assistance.

  • My blood pressure machine is hooked to my phone, so that all the readings get put onto an APP.
  • We bought a scale and I have an armband that is connected to my phone, to keep all kinds of data on my body, health, etc. It is, of course, partly AI, but I still have no idea how some of the data points are arrived at. It seems like magic.
  • I can’t turn my hearing aids up — or down — or off — or on without my phone.
  • I order pizza with my phone.
  • I can start my car with my phone, without going outside.

There is more, but you get the idea. It seems like I would be lost without my phone, and I’m not sure I am good with that.

Yes, it is convenient. I have all my blood pressure readings on an APP. I am learning more about my health, on an APP. I can adjust my hearing aids, with an APP. I can order pizza on the phone, I think, but the APP is more convenient.

I wonder, if the Kessler Syndrome happens, what is going to happen to the world? So much convenience, gone in a flash — or multiple flashes.

So many things now can go wrong that I try not to think about. I can’t decide if it would be a good thing for the world, or a bad thing — if I didn’t have a phone anymore. I guess it wouldn’t be good if just I didn’t have my phone, but if everyone didn’t have a phone, maybe that would be all right?

Peace.

Kevin
