Unfortunately, I am making a fresh start. I was just reminded why it says I should back up the site and database: attempting to update a plugin or WordPress version can destroy the site. In my case, it went into “maintenance” mode, and it never came back. Since this was a new blog and I only had maybe five posts (which I do not believe anyone had seen), I just uninstalled it and am starting over.
Thus, the Fresh Start.
